I dye pretty yarn, too!

Too much to do, too much to share

And so I have gotten completely overwhelmed at the idea of blogging it, and went into writing shutdown mode, other than my usual 140 character blips on twitter.

I told myself to get over it, so to break the ice, here is a fast and dirty rundown of some of what I’ve been working on lately!

Last month, I traveled to TNNA in Columbus, OH, to get together with other knitting and crochet folks to see what’s new in our industry, to share ideas, and to have fun! Unfortunately, I managed to hurt my back WHILE I was there, so my photos are very few because I was distracted, but I do have some swag to give away in an upcoming post (including a Namaste bag, yes, really).

Next up was vending for Kitchen Sink Dyeworks at Maker Faire NC, in Raleigh, NC. This was SO much fun! I traveled with my friends Kristin and Joshua and their two kids, and Maker Faire is a geeky child wonderland. We all learned how to pick locks from the friendly boys at FALE, a recreational lockpicking club (they are squeaky clean, and Kristin and I have no plans for B&E anytime soon, either.).

Kid construction!!!

Our neighbors across the aisle were Greyhound Rescue!
Tatting, so lovely

I’ve been back home for a few weeks, dyeing yarn like mad and writing new top secret patterns for some freelance jobs. I’ve also been having WAY TOO MANY ideas for new projects, and not enough time to develop them all. I’m hoping that I can delve into a few more after KSD’s trip to Sock Summit, and my other traveling project this summer (more on that soon).

Distracting me through some of these must-do tasks is the itch to sew more dresses and skirts. I started the Helena skirt that I downloaded from the Burdastyle website, and made a quick muslin (pinned to within an inch of its life, rather than sewn), I’ve even cut out my pieces in the final fabric, a gray chambray! I’m excited to finish it, hopefully this weekend.

So I’m back to my monumental to-do list, and I’ll try not to be away so long next time.
