My free online sock knitting class has been moved from the original Ning site to YouTube, so that more people can easily access the videos. Watch the videos, and learn to make a pair of children’s socks to donate to Children in Common, a charity providing warm clothing and other assistance for children in orphanages in Eastern Europe. Your donations of knitted items is appreciated, but of course, not required.
Drop me a line at mercedes (at) knitn (dot) com to let me see your finished socks, ask questions, or anything on your mind!

Donating Your Finished Socks:
Children in Common Provides handknit socks, sweaters, vests, mittens, and other knitted objects to children in orphanages in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. CIC also provides gifts of knitting materials and tools to the orphans. The charity needs vests, sweaters, socks and small stuffed knit bears and dolls (4 to 7 inches). Clothing sizes most needed are for toddlers and kids up to age 6, but we accept clothing sized for children 6 months old to age 16. The project is ongoing and all items are hand-delivered to the orphanages by parents traveling to adopt and through humanitarian group trips.
